Xiaomi, What’re You Doing?

Yesterday, rumor had it that Xiaomi will launch a $600 device later this year, and I sat down wondering why they want to disrupt a good strategy (Selling high-specced devices at an affordable price) that has helped them accumulate a whopping $46 billion fortune. IMG_20160615_114710

Likely answer 1: They want to rub shoulders with the big boys (Aka Samsung, Apple, and Co)
Likely answer 2: They want to improve their brand perception.
Likely answer 3: They want to cater to a different target audience.
Likely answer 4: They want to increase profit margins.

The news was confirmed by Xiaomi’s co-founder Liwan Jiang via Gizmo China, but asides from that confirmation, no-one knows about the phone in terms of specifications. The only rumors circulating is that it could be a Mi Note 2 variant sporting a dual curved screen, but given that the device is going to be that expensive, you should be expecting something over the top, like really over the top.

Creating history... One review at a time.

It’s okay to try something new, might work and might not. Is not as if they will stop producing the affordable ones

Moving to the big leagues is something, but competing with the big leagues is another, things might not turn out the way they seem..
