Want to Crash an iPhone? Send Some Emojis.

It’s an Apple morning today.

iPhone users, there is a new video that your frenemies must not see, because it shows how to crash an iPhone by sending them a text that contains emojis.

Yup, E M O J I S! These emojis:

The video was uploaded by the popular YouTube prankster EverythingApplePro. In the video, he showed how a random collection of text messages can cause an iPhone to crash and reboot. The text string is composed of a waving white flag emoji, a zero, a rainbow, and a variation selector, which is a hidden Unicode character that can be copied into an iMessage. Sending the message isn’t as easy as typing the characters because you have to log into the web version of iCloud, paste the special VS16 character into the online Notes app, then open the saved string on a phone and share it as a text message.

If you send all four of the characters at once, the recipient’s device will freeze immediately — and I mean immediately! They don’t even have to open the message.

After three to five minutes of being frozen, the phone turns back on, and everything’s fine.

How to protect yourself?

The easiest way to protect yourself, therefore, is by updating to the latest version of iOS.

(P.S. I was unable to reproduce the same effect on an iPhone 6 running iOS 10.01).

I’ve seen something like this before.

If I get bae an iPhone and she later leave me, I won’t collect the phone back oh but she will experience freezing always like a refrigerator.

… WELL, THIS IS ANOTHER TESTAMENT TO THE FACT THAT IN TODAY’S WORLD, NO PHONE IS ABSOLUTELY SECURED. IF YOU’RE AN iSHEEP BECAUSE OF THE MYTH THAT iCRAPS ARE WELL SECURED, THEN YOU MAY BE LEFT DESERTED EVEN BY YOUR TECH COLONISER IN CUPERTINO JUST LIKE YAHYAH JAMEH.
      #iPHONES ARE NOT SPECIAL.
