Guess who has had an interesting MWC?
Nokia officially launched 5 devices at this year’s MWC, because, why not?!
THE ANDROID GO
The Nokia 1 is one of the first Android Go devices with 4G support.
Similar to the Nokia 2 I reviewed, the Nokia 1 is even less impressive in the specs department. However, you can’t deny the fact that it looks cute.
Specs-wise you have a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with a resolution of 854×480 pixels, a low-end MediaTek CPU paired with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage that is expandable, a 5-megapixel camera at the rear with LED flash, 2-megapixels front camera, a 2150 mAH battery and a price tag of $85 (N30,000).
Still on the budget-device spree, the company launched the Banana (It’s called the banana because of the color), otherwise known as the Nokia 8810. This is a slider phone with 4G connectivity. On the specs side of things, you’d get a 2.4-inch QVGA display, along with a Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform. It includes 512MB RAM and has 4GB of internal memory. You are also getting a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 1500 mAh battery.
I don’t know what Nokia was thinking of by giving the 8810 a price tag of $94, but that’s what it is.
Then there is the Unbendable, which is by far the strongest Smartphone from Nokia.
It features a stainless steel, an IP67-rated design that Nokia claims has 3.5 times the structural integrity of 6000 series aluminum smartphones. It also looks similar to the Note 8 thanks to its curved edge-to-edge Quad HD (2560 x 1440) OLED 16:9 display that is shielded by a shatter-resistant Gorilla Glass panel.
As far as price is concerned, this would cost about $749. (N270,000).
Other devices include the Nokia 6 — features a “seamless aluminum unibody” design, Zeiss optics, a facial recognition feature, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, and Qi wireless charging. You are also getting a 2.5D Full HD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 screen, 3GB/4GB of RAM, 6MP (rear),8MP (front) and 3,000mAh battery all for $343 (N124,000)— and the Nokia 7 Plus, built from aluminum and features six layers of “ceramic feel” paint.
With this one, you are getting a 6-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080) 18:9 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 system-on-chip paired with 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage (expandable up to 256GB), a 3,800mAh battery, a dual rear camera with a dual-tone LED flash, which consists of a 13MP primary camera/ 12MP secondary sensor, you’d also get a 16MP fixed sensor front camera with Zeiss optics, all going for $490 (N177,000).
Over to you, which of these five devices are you excited for?
