Live Update From the Samsung Galaxy S10 Launch Event in Nigeria.

So, I am currently at Samsung’s unpacked event in Nigeria!

For those who want to keep up with the live stream, you can do so by clicking on the link below:

However, I will be giving you updates right, the Nigerian way, so stay tuned.

To kick off, we get a short welcome speech from the Managing director of Samsung West Africa, David Suh:

He is talking about how Samsung has remained innovative in the past 10 years:

Next, DJ Cuppy comes on stage:

Samsung has kicked off the unpacked event with a short video showing off the Galaxy Fold, Samsung’s first foldable surprise.

It’s a 6.3inch device that comes in four different colors, plus you have the ability to actually personalize the hinge color.

As expected, multitasking on the Galaxy Fold  is mindblowing, with it, you can run three apps at the same time:

As far as performance goes, you have “State-of-the-art 7nm processor and 12GB of RAM.” that comes with batteries on both sides of the fold, You also get 512GB inbuilt storage.

One cool thing you can do with the Galaxy Fold is the ability to take an app from the tiny screen to the big screen and as demonstrated, it works perfectly, guys!
This is me, guys:
As for the price, you are getting this at $1980, that is about N712,000+

Next up, we have Samsung Electronics’s CEO DJ Koh, come to talk about the ways Samsung is innovating, he also revealed how many Galaxy Phones have been sold so far:

…And guys, that’s:

Now, for the major reason why we are here:

The Galaxy S10 is the world’s first infinity display on an AMOLED device. According to Samsung, it’s the most color accurate display ever on a mobile device. Plus, you get  HDR10+, the latest display standard from Samsung.

The Galaxy S10 also has the world’s first ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and is expected to work in different weather conditions:

Now for the camera freaks, the Galaxy S10 comes with a dual rear camera system, so you get a standard wide and telephoto camera.

The camera is also the “first mobile device on the market capable of recording video in HDR 10+, which means an increase in brightness and dynamic range. Another thing Samsung is bringing to the table is AI, According to Samsung,

“There’s one area where smartphones have an even bigger edges over traditional cameras: intelligence.”

The S10 is expected to come with a neural processing unit to help it tweak in even more scenarios. It’ll even warn you when you aren’t framing up your subject properly.

Also, Samsung says that you won’t need to edit those files on a PC because they have struck a partnership with Adobe for a customized version of Premiere Rush for S10 user that will allow you to edit on the go:

Now, Samsung notes that the S10 Plus will be the only one with dual front cameras:

Now, for the Instagram addicts out there

I see you.

I am happy to announce that Samsung’s camera app will come with an Instagram mode, that will allow you to launch right into Stories, stickers, Instagram editing, plus other Instagram features:

Moving to the battery, you get 4,100mAh battery on the S10 Plus, 3,400mAh on the S10 and 3100mah on the S10e:

As far as the processor is concerned, with the Galaxy S10 Plus, you can get up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of base storage:

Now here are the specs in one image:

Now, for those who are wondering, the S10E doesn’t come with an in-screen fingerprint sensor, instead, you get a side fingerprint sensor.

I am not sure how I feel about that, but let me know in the comment section.

Now, if you thought Samsung was done with the S10 lineup, well:

Guys, meet the Galaxy S10 5G which looks exactly like the S10.

However, unlike the S10 plus, the S10 5G will come with a 6.7-inch display with a 4,500mAh battery and a third selfie camera:

Impressive, right?

So, over to you, guys, what do you think about the Galaxy S10 series?

We’re getting there. Can’t fault Samsung for wanting to be first. Will be worth buying by it’s 3rd gen/iteration by which time capitalism & competition would have birthed proper use cases for this form factor.

No worries. We’ll just wait till our favourite Transsion hit makers release their new foldables with mediatek processors and sell it for *only* #90,000 😀
