Which Would You Rather Have— A Notch or a Pop-up Camera? Oppo Joins the Pop-up Camera Gang!

Will Pop-up cameras be the new trend?

Personally, I am of the opinion that the pop-up motorization might not stand the test of time.

However, my thoughts haven’t stopped Oppo — the same company that manufactures OnePlus devices— from releasing a smartphone with a pop-up camera shortly after Vivo released the NEX.

Unlike Vivo’s Nex, the Oppo Find X’s motor raises the top center section of the phone to reveal the back and the front cameras — a 25MP camera front camera,  a 3D facial scanning system, and 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual rear cameras.

Specs-wise, we are looking at a 6.4-inch display with a curved screen (Kinda looks like the S9, right?) and a body ratio of 92.25 percent. You get FHD OLED display along with a glass covering at the back,  speaking of the back, the phone doesn’t come with a fingerprint sensor at all, instead, it uses the 3D facial scanning system mentioned above.

It also uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, along with an 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a 3,730mAh battery with fast charge.

So, over to you, would you rather go with a notch or a pop-up selfie?

  1. I’m going with the notch, all these pop up cameras are mechanical parts and can fail

This ‘pop up’ thingy, while a marvelous feat of engineering, is a step backwards. It’s like moving one step forward, but 10 back.

    Moving parts are not reliable.

Notch all day, everyday. Don’t know why people hate it, honestly.

Um, how do u pronounce this -> “oppo”?
    – Oppo, as in the first syllable of opposite. Or,
    – O.P.O, as in O.B.O (DAVIDO)

You sick, mate, I swear! 😆

  4. This one looks nice sha.
I never had luck with flip or slide phones. I’ll try this one for free, I won’t use my money to repeat my bad history with phones with “transformer like” attributes

Have you seen the price? 1000€ in France. At that price, no thanks, they can keep their pop-up thing, I’ll take the Mi8 Explorer with its notch and UD Fingerprint scanner

I understand that it will cost about $1700. Also that OPPO made this phone to “make a statement” to Europe and the USA that it can make an expensive flagship phone with “crazy tech”in it. They did it before in 2014 and the industry followed them. I had the Nokia N97(had a hinge linking the screen and the keyboard) in those days Nokia was still THE KING. It Didn’t give me any problems but I think I prefer candy bar phones. I’d take a notch over a phone with moving components.

Because of how much i dislike the “notch” i’d rather have this phone.
