As a follow-up to the launch of their selfie-focused smartphone the Hot S3 in March, Infinix Nigeria has put together a Masterclass session to help educate its fans/customers about the use of a selfie-focused smartphone for lifestyle blogging. The theme of the masterclass session was tagged Beauty Meets Tech: How A Selfie-Focused Smartphone Can Help Lifestyle Blogging” and the speaker was Deola Adebiyi of Omoge Mura.
A masterclass like this one cannot come at a better time because of the recent increase in the need for youths to diversify and get multiple streams of income. Lifestyle blogging has seen a sharp rise as more and more people seem to be making headway with it. So, it is a good one that the brand has created the opportunity to empower their fans/customers to do more with their smartphones. The fact that the masterclass is focused more on S3 users is understandable. The Hot S3 is the first device from Infinix with a Snapdragon processor and a 20 MP selfie camera.
This is well-positioned to deliver top-notch visual appeal in the front camera and also great internal workings to help blog on the smartphone. As a selfie-focused smartphone, the Hot S3 is a great device for anyone who wants to go into lifestyle blogging, and Deola did justice to the “how” of this in the masterclass.Shedding more light on the “What”, the “Why” and the “How” of lifestyle blogging, Deola urged the participants to define what it is they want to do with their blogs first i.e. what the content of the blog will be
Once this has been sorted, one can now define or outline the reasons – why – anyone will want to consume your content. According to Deola, this is a crucial stage as it will help the rising blogger create a persona for their target audience and also help to focus on their strength. For the “How”, she discussed the type and channels of lifestyle blogging. From videos to picture-based blogging. The “how’s’ can be stretched to encompass whatever a would-be blogger desires. Deola also mentioned that WordPress is the go-to CMS for anyone who wants to do lifestyle blogging because it is easy to use and very mobile compatible.
To round off her session, Deola charged the audience to “find the light” when taking their selfies as lighting is crucial to getting a perfect selfie shot. Also, she admonished them not to be afraid to take multiple selfie shots in order to get the perfect one. She gave an example of Kyle Jenner who takes over 2,000 selfies in other to get the perfect one. The event featured practical sessions where attendants were shown how to take good selfies, how to use their smartphones to start their own lifestyle blogs and the example of blog platforms to be leveraged for the optimal result in lifestyle blogging. As side attractions, the event featured interactive selfie-game session where the participants were grouped into four. A team lead was selected and asked to take a good selfie in 60-seconds. This was in the bid to see how much they have learned and how they can quickly apply what they have learned right there.
Half-way into the event, the S3 product manager Andy Wang from China took to the stage to share some deep insight into how the phone was designed. He also talked about the R&D process that went into making the S3 and how it was designed to suit the selfie-inclined fans. To round off his presentation, he highlighted the improvements made on the S3 while juxtaposing it with other brands’ flagships that the S3 beats hands-down.
The session ended with a Q&A session where the audience took to the stage to ask many “how to” “what if” questions. Deola readily took on the questions and did justice to them. After this, there was a tea break and then a meet and greet session where the audience got to meet and introduce themselves in the bid to create a form of a network of fans.
