People Are Talking About Bill Gates's CTRL+ALT+DEL Regret. And I Honestly Don't Get It

In my Windows Vista/7 days, Ctrl+Alt+Del was my fix for moments when my laptop became unresponsive or a particular app was causing a lag — I relied on it to launch the task manager window.

However, at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum, Bill Gates was asked why he chose Ctrl+Alt+Del and why he ever thought the combination was a good idea.

In his words:
“You can’t go back and change the small things in your life without putting the other things at risk,” but sure. If I could make one small edit I would make that a single key operation.
Mind you, in 2013, he made a similar confession, but he blamed IBM for the issue, saying, “The guy who did the IBM keyboard design didn’t want to give us our single button.”
To be honest, I don’t understand his regret.

Am I the only one?

I thought CTRL +ALT+DEL was supposed to be a *good* thing. There is little chance of pressing these combinations by accident —a dedicated button would have been a waste of keyboard real estate, and resulted in far more inadvertent task manager prompts.

So, dear Uncle Bill, take it from an ex-Windows user, you have nothing to apologize for — there’s nothing wrong with Ctrl-Alt-Del.
Or is there? Let me know.

Ex-windows user XD, well I see nothing wrong with it though if it was a single button there’s a possibility of inadvertently pressing it so nahh it’s good for me.

Seriously there’s nothing wrong with this, it kinda gives me bragging rights in front of my not so geeky friends, if it was a dedicated key then everyone would know it.

… WELL, BILL IS SIMPLY SAYING THAT HE’S SORRY 🙏 FOR MAKING PEOPLE GO THROUGH THE STRESS OF THREE BUTTONS COMBO.
BUT SINCERELY, WHY THE REGRET, ARE PEOPLE COMPLAINING? THIS THOUGH MAY MEAN SOMETHING IS IN THE PIPES TO DO SOME WONDERS…

He must be meaning something else.
