I have the Infinix Hot 5 in the building, the latest device in the Hot series which Infinix is touting as the Mobile cinema.
On the specs side of things, the major upgrade is with the cinematic experience you get thanks to the Dual speakers in front that is powered by the Dirac 3D stereo. But is that good enough?
Well, you’d find that out in the full review which should be up tomorrow, yes, I am pulling an all nighter.
But first, the UNBOXING.
THE INFINIX HOT 5 UNBOXING
The Hot 5 has the same packaging as the Hot 4, but with a different color scheme and as for the accessories:
You have the usual suspects:
But Infinix has included a ring holder that can be attached to the back of the device and can also be used to position the phone.
INFINIX HOT 5 UNBOXING: SAY HI TO INFINIX’S MOBILE CINEMA
I got the Apple green color variant, but the Hot 5 also comes in white, gold, black, and red.
I do love how shiny the color looks, but the white in front and the green at the back makes me look like a patriotic Nigerian.
Although some might argue that the Nigerian flag has a different color shade.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT AND WHAT IS NOT?
The first thing that caught my attention is the dual speakers in front of the device which is powered by Dirac.
You also have the 5MP front facing camera, similar to the Hot 4’s, this has also been paired with a soft light flash.
Then there is the obvious-looking sensor.
Looking downwards, Infinix has replaced the physical buttons on the Hot 4 with soft buttons on the Hot 5.
Beneath all of that is the Micro USB port:
And on top of that is the 3.5mm earphone jack:
At the back, you have a removable back cover.
Inside that seats the dual SIM card slot (No 4G LTE support) as well as the MicroSD card slot, expandable up to 64GB.
Still on the back, you have the 8MP back facing camera with dual LED flash
You still have the fingerprint sensor and the textured back that was spotted on the Hot 4 which allows for a firm grip.
As for the general feel, the Hot 5 is slimmer than the Hot 4. When it comes to buttons, they have all been placed to the right side of the device.
So, how much does this weigh?
Slightly lighter than the Hot 4, this comes in at 168g
As opposed to the Hot 4’s 175g.
POWERING ON THE HOT 5
The Hot 5 uses Android 7.0 out of the box and Infinix is promising that you’d get 1 free update.
So, that means you are likely going to get Android Oreo with the Hot 5. The XOS 2.2 is also used here.
Finally, on the storage side of things, you have about 9.39GB left.
So, there you have it! Like I said, I’d be pulling an all nighter with the Hot 5, so let me know what you want to see in the full review which would be up tomorrow.
In the meantime, does this look like a good second device or a main device? Remember that this has a price tag of N35,000.
