Infinix Note 4 Pro Unboxing & Review: Things to Know Before Buying + The Battle of the 3GB RAM Devices — Note 4 Pro vs. Hot S2 Pro vs. A1 Lite

I spent the better part of the weekend and Monday reviewing the Note 4 Pro hence the reason I’ve been MIA (I really need a female writer). But the Note 4 Pro was worth the stress. Here is my video review:

But before the review. Here’s what you’d find in the box:
The 5.7-inch Note 4 pro

Power adapter

Earphones

MicroUSB cable

The famous X-Pen (This is sold at N4,000 should you want to replace yours). Then, This beautiful leather case:

A film case

Pin Ejector and manuals.

Moving to the similarities and differences, the first has to do with the build, it’s still the same size as the Note 4, but the Note 4 Pro looks premium thanks to the metal unibody design as opposed to the removable plastic back on the Note 4.

Since the back is not removable, the dual SIM card slot has been placed on the left side of the device.

Beneath that is the charge connector pins for the X-pen.

On the other side, there is the MicroSD card slot, volume rocker, and power button.

Everything looks the same in front and yes! I am talking about the bezels, they are still there on the Note 4 pro, but one difference is the fact that the camera sensor has been moved to the left.

The ports on top and beneath still remain the same.

As for the specs, this is slightly similar to the Note 4.

But there are noticeable changes, one of which is the storage, you get 32GB of RAM on paper but you only have about 23GB available.

On the weight side of things, the Note 4 is slightly lighter than the Note 4 Pro, the Note 4 comes in at 208g

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

Meet the X-Pen:

Now asides from being able to draw with this, you can also use the X-Pen to do almost everything on the Note 4 Pro.

There is also a feature called Air command that allows you to activate a couple of functions on your smartphone by pressing the button on the X-Pen.

Some of the functions include the ability to take screenshots of any shape using the X-Pen

And my favorite is Screen Write:

To name a few.
The X-Pen needs to be charged, though, and Infinix is promising that you can charge the X-Pen in 20 seconds and use it for 30 minutes, a statement that is quite true.
Which brings me to my dislikes! The smart case is needed to charge the X-Pen, so, if you are not a fan of smart cases you won’t like this one.
But did I mention how gorgeous this smart case looks?

My only complaint is that the smart case makes the phone look large, this is understandable because of the X-Pen slot. I also noticed that Infinix will send constant notifications when your X-Pen’s battery is low, but this can be turned off in the settings. For those wondering, the X-pen won’t work on the Note 4.

DISPLAY

Nothing has changed here, you still get the same 5.7FHD display that offers vibrant colors, sunlight visibility is also similar to the Note 4, and the same can be said of the OS and the fingerprint sensor.

CAMERA

As for the cameras, the specs also stay the same with the Note 4 and I was able to capture a couple of macro shots using the rear camera

More picture samples in the video.
For a bit of benchmark, here is a comparison with the S2 Pro.

However, I still don’t like the fact that the Note 4 Pro, just like the Note 4 doesn’t do so well in low light conditions. Video quality is also okay, here is a screenshot from the video recording in the video above.

As for performance, this is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek processor paired with 3GB of RAM, with that you get a smooth multitasking experience and the frame drops noticed during gameplay were not bad.

BENCHMARK

I compared the Note 4 Pro with the Hot S2 Pro and the Gionee A1 Lite, Check it out. The first image is the Note 4 Pro, second is the A1 Lite and the Hot S2 Pro:

So, what happens when the Gionee A1 Lite, the Note 4 Pro, and the Hot S2 Pro go head to head, find out in the video:

As for the overall battery life, this is also good, you could get up to 2 days of battery life on moderate use. And even when your battery dies, the Note 4 pro comes with x-charge that would allow you to charge the Note 4 Pro from 1% to 100% in 1 Hour 56 minutes.

HOW HOT DOES THIS GET?

Slightly above warm, you’d definitely notice the temperature change when playing highly intensive games or charging which is largely due to the metal build.

Finally the AUDIO!

Why not be the judge by listening to it right now, P.S. The audio test between the Note 4 Pro, the Hot S2 Pro and the Note 4 starts at 8:17minutes.

Whew! There you have it guys, what do you think?

First to comment, you’re indeed a genius, you saved me alot of money with this review. I will rather go for note 4 instead of pro.

  2. ỌBÁDÁRÀ says:

… WELL, I THINK I CAN NOW GO AHEAD AND BUY THIS! NOTE 4 PRO IS BAE. BUT PLEASE, WHAT’S THE MSRP FOR THIS?
ONE BASIC PROBLEM I WILL HAVE WITH THIS IS THE SMART CASE THAT’S STYLISHLY MADE COMPULSORY, BECAUSE I HATE USING CASES LIKE THIS JUST AS MUCH AS I HATE PASSWORDS AND PINS …

    1. Tobi Ayeni says:

HEY OBADARA! 🙂 IT SHOULD BE AROUND N74,000.

      1. Kay says:

ALL CAPS, JUST THE WAY HE LIKES IT.

  6. Popoola oladimeji says:

    Niceone…enjoyed reading…

  7. KingAbsolute says:

Massive and Awesome. Now that’s something slightly different from what we’ve been seeing from Infinix. I like this smartphone and its features. Note series over Hot series.

  8. Nameless says:

Please can anyone CONFIRM that the note 4 PRO does not work with Glo 4g? I need to be sure, seeing lte band 28b listed on some specs.

    1. Fred says:

      GLO LTE isn’t supported.

  9. Nameless says:

Also, may I suggest you snap a more “complex” scene such as a chart with fine prints in various colors, and make it possible for us to get the full res picture? It should be easier to judge a camera’s performance that way

    1. MT says:

Okay. Will do. Thanks for suggesting. I’d also check to see if it supports Glo’s 4G

  10. Timileyin says:

    Which camera do you use?

Thank you for ur review. The price is cheaper at http://www.Pointeck.com with X.pen N7ok

  15. Anonymous says:

So the note 4 pro come with the x pen and case and they remove it before selling it to us in Ghana. i am going to take infinix on

  16. Victoria says:

  18. fredrick says:

Thanks for the review. Want to know if external mic for video voice recording is supported on Note4 pro?

  19. Becky says:

Thanks so much, pls help confirm if it works with GLO LTE and also where to get the “Original” product.

  20. Ola says:

Hi miss techy. Thanks for the review, got my note 4 pro about a week ago. Little issue I noticed is that the capacitive buttons are not responsive….I have to tap and tap and tap to get them to respond and then the left one (meant to move between tabs) moves so fast (when it responds) that you can’t even switch tabs. Please any ideas on how I can resolve this? Other than this issue, the device is great.
    Thanks!

  21. Fortune says:

Quick question here… Must the phone be in the casing before you can use the xpen?? Cos most reviews I see the phone is always cased while using the pen. I’ll really like to confirm that tnx.

    1. Ola says:

No the phone doesnt have to be in the case for the Xpen to be used but you need the case to charge the Xpen once the battery is low. I use the note 4 pro and the only issue I’ve had has been the responsiveness of the capacitive buttons but that stopped once I removed the glass screen protector I installed.

      1. Becky says:

Thanks Ola for your comments it’s really helpful, but pls I don’t mind if u can give me more insight on the phone being that you’v been using it for urs for awhile. Need to know where u got it, how much nd some other info. …..thanks
U can send me an e-mail

  22. Ola says:

Got it from a store at computer village, ikeja for 72,500 (Can’t remeber the store name though a lot of the big name stores also had it in stock for 73,500) and it came with both case and xpen. Got it on a Friday and infinix had a grab promo going on so I got 1k back when I participated.
I’m a very heavy user so the battery normally takes me through 6 hours of heavy use (from 8am) and then If I leave the phone rest a bit, it’ll get me home meaning I charge only at night.
I used to use an iPhone so I honestly can’t give a fair opinion on the fluidity and response of the phone cos I still prefer my iPhone to the infinix….only advantage so far is there are lesser restrictions for downloads, transfers, etc.
    Battery life is a plus.
Selfies…..my iPhone beat this one hands down.
Sound quality from my earphones is pretty decent but from the speaker, its not as loud as I’d have liked it to be.
All in all, its a good phone for that price. I’d have gotten the Note 4 and not the Pro if it had a metal finish but Miss Techy’s review pretty much covers everything you need to know.
If your phone drops a lot, better get the Note 4 and not the Pro cos the capacitive buttons don’t respond well with a glass screen. Hope that helps. Cheers.

  23. Becky says:

Yes it does. Thanks a lot Ola, really appreciate your review. Been waiting for the past 1 month to get adequate info on d phone before purchasing it but with your help and MissTechy I can go ahead now. Gracias/Bonjour

    1. Ola says:

You’re welcome……..If you can wait a bit longer and cost is not an issue, you may as well splurge on the Infinix Zero 5….that phone is a machine! Not yet launched in Nigeria I think. If I hadn’t gotten this, I’d have bought that one!

  24. Becky says:

Wow! Ola I just checked the spec of Infinix Zero 5, it’s magnificent and so enticing. Wish I could get my hands on it but I can’t afford that price, dear it’s 130K+. So I’m gonna stick to my Note 4 pro for now…… Thanks anyways *Smile*

  25. Anonymous says:

@ Ola, I’m having the same issue with my note 4 pro but I noticed if u use the Xpen to tap the back menu point or recent point it responds normally but I noticed I have to start touching the points slightly to respond normally better still if u have a gorilla glass (tempered glass) on ur screen I guess it could affect it too cos the glass somewhat reduces the touch sensitivity ~ which is not cool cos I also can’t just remove the glass to avoid getting the screen damaged #futurefallprevention

    1. Ola says:

I had to remove the glass. I’m a heavy phone user and I can’t bring out the pen every time I want to navigate between applications or go back. On that one point about the phone, Infinix didn’t try at alllll.. The phone’s buttons are also a bitch to operate in the dark as you have no way of locating them easily. Asides those 2 points, I have no issue. I’m being careful though and it hasn’t fallen once since I got it.

  26. Chidera says:

Between infinix note 4 and the pro which is more preferably in performance

  27. Prize says:

    First time reader.
    I love this.
And you just got a big fan
I’m planning on getting this phone soon.
Just wanted to be sure I wasn’t making a mistake.

    1. Ola says:

Please don’t get the note 4 pro if your phone falls a lot cos you can’t use a tempered glass screen on it and enjoy the usage. I have been sounding the alarm on this aspect to anyone I know who wants to purchase the phone. I’m ditching the phone soon cos it has fallen like 2 times and I feel that’s a warning to me lol, before the screen will goan break (and since no one can authoritatively confirm that it has gorilla glass)…look around for other infinix phones if you must use infinix pls. Also, my 5 month feedback on the fast charge is that it now works intermittently (even though I’ve been pretty careful with the charger based on feedback from people who had issues with it). Cheers.
