Officially meet Android Nougat’s Successor.
The Android 8.0, aka Android Oreo!
In case you didn’t get the memo, here is the part where we act surprised:
Various developer editions and Google I/O announcements have already highlighted the major features which include:
- Notifications Channels
- Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode
- LDAC Bluetooth audio codec support
- Adaptive icons
- Notification Dots for icons
- Smart text selection
- New Autofill APIs
- WiFi Aware support to improve communication with nearby WiFi devices.
Today, Google also showed off the official statue for the new Android OS.
As expected, Oreo will land first on Google’s devices like Pixel, Pixel XL, before it lands on other devices (Tecno and Co.) as for the exact time, Google says these updates will begin rolling out in phases “soon.” However, considering the slow adoption rate of Nougat, the chances are less likely it would happen in the adjacent months.
What are your thoughts?
This is a developing story.
