For those who are still stuck on their Windows devices (Please tell me you have another device running Android or iOS), I have got bad news.
Microsoft has officially ended the mainstream support for Windows Phone 8.1.
(P.S. According to the Verge, 80% of all Windows-powered phones are still running Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone 8, or Windows Phone 8.1. And only 20 percent of all Windows phones are running the latest Windows 10 Mobile OS — which doesn’t have a clear future, for now)
If you are part of the 80%, don’t panic! Because this doesn’t mean that your phone will stop working, it just means that you won’t get updates moving forward.
Which is not really a bad thing, especially when you consider the fact that a lot of Android phones (Yes, I am looking at you Tecno, iTel, InnJoo, and others) are still stuck with Android Lollipop in 2017.
What are Microsoft’s plans for Smartphones?
For now, I don’t know, although rumors have it that they might launch a surface phone. However, it’s obvious that phones might not be Microsoft’s forte, so, they should just stick to what they are good at! Biko
