Wait! So, The Mobile Internet Speed in Kenya is Faster Than South Korea & The United States?!

Who would have thought?!

When it comes to mobile internet speed, one would expect to see countries like South Korea and the United States topping the chart, but based on the new report from Akamai, Kenya’s mobile internet speed is faster than the aforementioned countries — they currently have the 14th-fastest average mobile internet speed.
Here is the chart for the doubting Thomases:

Kenya had an average mobile Internet speed of 13.7 megabits per second outranking the United States, which had an average speed of 10.7 Mbps, and South Korea.
Where is Nigeria on the list, you ask?

    Did they include Glo in that survey? Then it should be much lower. The highest I’ve ever got was about 2.3mb/s for like 15secs then it was back to the kilobyte zone

    Meanwhile, here in lokoja, the average mobile internet speed clocks in somewhere at 0.06 kbps. Doubt it, feel free to check it out yourself.

    Being from Kenya I can attest to how blazing Fast and expensive safaricom 4G is. Mostly I get 25mb\s. PS. I would take expensive and fast over slow and cheap anyday

    I do not live in Nairobi. I live in Chogoria, Meru. A very remote town but we have 4G. Even in big countries they measure the speed only in major towns.

    Nigeria have to act fast.
    There are lots of apps that claim to help boost internet speed, maybe you can check them out.

    This list is wrong, there is no way uk will be faster than South Korea or Netherland or Singapore and Nigeria speed is faster than Kenya speed for sure, I’m in a group with lots of kenyas… With mtn 4G i get 47mb/s and with Airtel 3g I get 14mb/s
