It appears that Samsung’s new flagship phone — the Galaxy S8—costs more to build than other phones from major competitors, which makes it the most expensive phone to build to date.
According to an estimate released by IHS Markit, the Galaxy S8 costs Samsung $307.50 to build, more than Samsung’s previous devices —the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge— which reportedly costs $255.10 and $271.20 to make. Whereas it costs Google $285.80 to make the Google Pixel XL and Apple $224.80 to make the iPhone 7.
Of course, Samsung has not confirmed whether or not these figures are accurate, so:
What do you think, especially when you consider the starting price of the Galaxy S8 which is at $749.99 and other elements —such as Research & development — that go into making a device as impressive as the Galaxy S8?
