Judging from the latest happenings (Samsung’s firecracker and Apple’s issues), it would be safe to conclude that the last quarter of 2016 was a bad one for the top 3 Phone OEMs, especially when you put into consideration the latest issues that have been plaguing Google’s Pixel devices.
First, it was the double tap to wake problems, next, we read that a lot of Pixel devices had audio and static distortion, then it was reported that Google was offering refunds instead of actually replacing the devices. Let’s not forget about the camera freezing!
For a premium phone with a premium price tag, these could seem like a lot.
The latest issue has to do with random software freezes that leave the devices unusable for a few seconds or for as long as several minutes. Some have pointed the blame at third-party apps like Life360. Others have pinned it on location services and hardware.
Now, before these issues existed, I was hating the fact that the Pixel devices haven’t been launched in Nigeria, yet! Right now, I think the delayed launch (If they even launch it here) could be a blessing in disguise.
