Although the figures point to Apple, the Redmond company — Microsoft— could become the first technology giant to reach a market value of $1 trillion, or so thinks a notable analyst.
Despite the fact that the Microsoft’s market value currently trails both Apple and Alphabet, analyst Michael Markowski of Equities.com believes that Microsoft’s $26.2 billion acquisition of LinkedIn could help them reach the $1 trillion milestone.
Here are the market caps of the top 5 tech companies via GeekWire
- Apple: $622.6B
- Alphabet: $549.7B
- Microsoft: $489.3B
- Amazon: $358.7B
- Facebook: $337.6B
Markowski notes that unlike a hardware company, a digital company like Microsoft has a more scalable business model that could reach more consumers, better cash flow, and higher margins. In other words, LinkedIn not only gives Microsoft a leg in the business social media sphere, it also puts the company in a unique position to leverage the burgeoning crowdfunding market.
