Remember CeeLo Green?
This weekend, a footage showed him in a music recording studio talking on his smartphone before it explodes and he collapses on the ground.
Of course, you should expect such footage to garner a lot of views, with a lot of celebrities throwing jabs at Samsung:
However, CeeLo Green took to Facebook Live on Saturday night to address the footage, in his words:
‘I just want to let everybody know that I am alive, that I’m well, and I’m OK,’ he said in the video.
‘Truthfully, I’m really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today.
‘What you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a new project I’m doing called Gnarly Davidson.
In other words, it was a publicity stunt, a very bad one at that, and if there’s one thing the internet hates more than a celebrity tragedy, it’s being tricked about a celebrity tragedy. Fans’ concerned prayers quickly turned to anger, as they criticized the singer for using Samsung’s very real Galaxy Note 7 debacle – and the ongoing smartphone fears it inspired – as a tool to promote his upcoming project.
