Hey, today is Google’s birthday!
While I let that sink in thanks to the disparities with the dates, Westlife’s ‘Unbreakable’ song kept playing in my head.
For those who can’t remember (You should be flogged if you were born in the 90s and can’t remember Unbreakable ?) here are some of the lyrics:
Took my hand
Touched my heart
Held me close
You were always there
By my side
Night and day
Through it all
Maybe come what may
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the Internet’s big brother has created an unbreakable bond with most of us, way different than others — You don’t “Yahoo” anything, and you won’t “Bing” stuff, either. But no one even blinks when you tell them to “Google’ stuff. It has become as much a verb as it is a search engine.
… And whether we love it or hate it cos of the data it gleans from us, there’s little doubt that your life is somehow affected every day by this company.
Happy birthday big guy!
Meanwhile, I am struggling to get a Nigerian equivalent of Westlife’s unbreakable. ?
