I’ve had a few days to play with the Camon C7, the truth is, experience-wise, it did feel like I was using the Camon C9, albeit, a smaller one. What other things should you expect with the Camon C7? Find out in this review:
THE TECNO CAMON C7 REVIEW
The C7 didn’t take after the C9 in this test, where the C9 took about 51 seconds to power on, the Camon C7 took about 41 seconds.
… And 9 seconds to power off.
This places the C7 above the Hot 3.
Recall that the Camon C7 is a 5-inch device with a 320dpi which means that all the pixels are fused in one small screen. The output in terms of colors is pleasing to the eye. When indoors, the colors look great with the brightness at minimum
The same thing applies outside (i.e. The phone is still visible even when the brightness isn’t set at a maximum). This is why I’d rate the Camon C7 higher than the C9 when it comes to sunlight visibility.
CAMON C7’s UI
If you have read the Camon C9 or the Boom J8 reviews, then I need not introduce the HiOS since it is the same experience.
To read more about this, check out the Camon C9’s review
BLOATWARE AND STOCK APPS
You also have what was found on the C9, the T-band, the Hi account manager, to name a few
PART 2: CHARGING TEST, CONNECTIVITY & OTHERS.
The Camon C7 is a little bit faster than the Camon C9 when it comes to charging.
Check out the results when you try to charge it in between:
Connectivity-wise, the Camon C7 is not 4G-enabled. But other connectivity options are included, well, except for NFC (Which isn’t a norm for Mediatek phones).
Out of the box, you get about 9.90GB of free space with the HiOS and other pre-installed apps taking 6GB
RAM-wise, you have about 1.16GB out of the 2GB which was stated.
Lastly, since it has an Android 6.0, you have the opportunity to use your SD card as an adoptive storage.
HOW GOOD IS THE BATTERY
To test out the battery, I played the new Deus Ex Go for about 40 minutes (This is the standard) with the Data, Hotspot and Flashlight switched on. Check out the results below:
The C7 Drained 24% in 40 minutes.
PART 3: HOW IS THE MULTITASKING EXPERIENCE?
With a 2GB RAM, you can have a lag-free experience provided you don’t go overboard with more than 2 or more heavy games at the same time.
Thanks to its plastic back cover, you won’t be wary of excessive overheating. Although it does get overly warm in front. Here is a test carried out after carrying out the battery test. Remember that the Flashlight, data, and mobile hotspot were all switched on:
PART 4: CAMERA ON THE WALL, WHO IS THE FAIREST?
You have the same camera interface found on the C9.
Also, just like the Camon C9, the C7 ‘s front camera doesn’t do well under low-light, but that is why you have the front camera flash and night mode. Check out some camera samples below:
Surprisingly, the audio performance is quite good, it is loud enough, but not overly loud. The quality is also above average.
No complaints from me here.
PART 5: SECURITY, FLAWS, BENCHMARKS, AND CONCLUSION
This also followed through with the C9’s eye scanner feature:
Some of the issues predominant in the Camon C9 are still present.
Also, I feel the power button might be too tiny for some of you (Not for me, though)
Lastly, the screen protection found on the Camon C7 is prone to scratches:
I got an update the, about 441.31MB, but you need to have your SD card to install.
Is this a great device for those who like them small, but don’t care for 4G?
The Camon C7 gives you the same experience (Asides the 4G) on the Camon C9, albeit in a smaller body.
So for those that love everything about the Camon C9 but don’t care for the size, this is perfect.
