Remember Skits, the app that allows you to create and/or share fun videos for brands while earning money real time?
I got to know about an ongoing Taste the feeling contest by Coke from one of the founders of Skit and I wanted to try it out to see the whole process firsthand and of course, to earn a few bucks.
Since I had the app installed, all I needed to do was record a 15-second cover video of Coke’s taste the feeling theme.
The 15-second timer reminds me of Snapchat, but unlike Snapchat, Skits is handsfree (meaning, you don’t need to put your hand on the record button during the duration of your recording). You can also pause your videos (Snapchat could learn from this).
Anyway, after recording, I published the video by selecting the Coca-Cola #TasteTheFeeling campaign.
Now, if my video gets selected by Coke (I pray it does), I’ll earn N2.00 for every view it generates. But even without posting a video, Skits says I can still earn by sharing any other user’s video that has been approved by any brand. For this, I should get N8.00 in my wallet for every view I am able to generate.
To test this, I selected a video on the featured page.
Clicked on the 3 dots and selected “Promote.”
There are about 3 different social media platforms available, for this test, I selected Whatsapp.
Ater getting about 8 video views from the people I shared to…
My Skits wallet was credited with N71.91
Do note that to redeem your reward, you will need to have at least N50 in your wallet. With the little time I spent on the app, I have redeemed airtime worth N70
On one occasion the app restarted itself (I don’t know what triggered that).
Overall, I can’t help but applaud the initiative behind this app because it creates an alternative source of income for young Nigerians, and that’s really cool. So, why not try it out, watch any featured video or join the ongoing Coca-Cola #TasteTheFeeling campaign. Do let me know how much you’ve earned.
