Africa Is Too Big To Be Ignored: Ebay Is Coming To Nigeria And 2 Other African Countries

eBay is reportedly coming to Nigeria and two African Countries – Kenya and Ghana – this move is thanks to a new partnership with MallforAfrica. The partnership will enable inventory from US sellers to be bought by MallforAfrica.com shoppers in Nigeria and Kenya.

According to the MallforAfrica’s CEO, Chris Folayan
“We are creating a unique ‘eBay Powered by MallforAfrica’ app to run on all our platforms. When buyers in Africa shop with this app, they’ll be able to
shop on eBay, buy what they want, check out, and pay through MallforAfrica.”

The service will reportedly start in Nigeria in July, and then roll out to Kenya, followed by Ghana.
Once that happens, you will be able to purchase goods from eBay using your local currencies through MallforAfrica, then in return, MallforAfrica with handle the shipping and delivery of goods and will also ensure the money goes back to the vendor in dollars.

… WELL, I THINK THIS IS A VERY NICE MOVE, BUT, WOULDN’T WE BE PAYING HIGHER THAN NORMAL BECAUSE WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH #MALLFORAFRICA?.
NB-@MISSTECHYNG, I’VE NOT READ YOUR WRITE UP WITH THIS NUMBER OF TYPOS. PLEASE AND MAKE THE NECESSARY CORRECTIONS…

Ummm not that I don’t think it’s a great idea, but in all essence, every firm yearns for the dough. Aaaand in actually doing so, pushes it all to customers and not forgetting the exchange factor, we would in fact be at a loss. Oh well, depends on your pocket weight. I’m

    Hi Misstechy,
There’s a number of potential problem with the idea.
First off the exchange rate is going to be through the roof.
Second is this idea of foreign companies “tapping” from Africa selfishly . As with PayPal they encourage you to spend at exorbitant rates, yet you are not allowed to partake in any promos, sales, or earnings.
Africa continues to be used as a dumping as well as hunting ground for these Foriegn e-commerce sites.
Do you think we are ever going to have the receive option on PayPal? Or are we not worth making money, just spending

This is good but having mallforafrica as a middle man will just hike the price. I hope I’m wrong though

  5. Middlemen is never a good sign, making this development kinda bitter/sweet

Spots an Item on eBay, $250, Rushes to MallforAfrica to place an order and you get total for everything to be $397 and I like.. How the hell did I get here in the first place ?
