You Can Now Retweet Yourself Plus 3 Other New Commandments On Twitter

Twitter, the best social media platform, in my opinion, hasn’t been doing so well when it comes to generating revenue and they have tried to change that by including features users will find exciting, the latest features which was announced yesterday affects some of its 140-charater constraints.

“We’re focused on making Twitter a whole lot easier and faster,” Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO and co-founder, said in a statement. “We’re not giving up on the idea of Twitter being in the moment. That concept of brevity, speed, and live conversation – being able to think of something and put it out to the world instantly – that’s what’s most important,” he also said.
So what exactly do these four new commandments entail?
• Thou shall no longer fear @names
Remember how frustrating it is replying a long handle because you know they are just going ? The company announced that @names will no longer count toward your 140-character window, so now you have more space to be clever.
•  Thou Shall no longer fear media attachments.
In the same light,  attachments like photos, GIFs, videos, polls, or Quote Tweets no longer count as characters within your Tweet.
• Thou shall retweet and quote yourself.
For those times you feel that witty thing you said didn’t get the attention it deserved, you can now quote or retweet it later so that it can garner more impression.
• Thou shall kiss the .@name Goodbye
You know that rule that forced you to type .@name if you wanted a new tweet that starts with a username to be visible to all your followers? Well you need be be bothered as those tweets will soon become visible in your news feed.
That pretty much sums up what was announced yesterday, what do you think?

hehehehehe, nice choice of words Miss T, well I practically think it’s an awwwwweeeesooome move by twitter to boost the twitter experience, but on a second thought o, are you sure it will be easy for us to keep these 4 commandments when we find it difficult to keep the already existing 10 commandments from God??….

WELL, ITS A GOOD MOVE. I USE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THAT LIMIT. BUT NOW, FREEDOM IS FREEDOM NO MATTER HOW RESTRAINING ITS STILL IS…

The first and second commandment is really affecting me, am happy its changing & still got the 140character mark (I still don’t want Facebook fanatics to enter twitter with their long ‘read-more’ stale posts/stories)
The second & third one is useless to me, why is twitter trying so much to be like Facebook?
