Amid the speculations, Facebook has finally reintegrated SMS and MMS into its Messenger app for Android. However, there are some things you need to activate before you can use this feature before it is rolled out to the general public.
- You need to be a Facebook beta tester, Click here to find out how.
- You need to have the latest version of the app (220.127.116.11.83).
- Bear in mind that neither of the steps above could translate to anything as this may be a server-side update directly from Facebook.
If you have done all this, just open Facebook Messenger, head to the Settings on the far right, tap SMS, then toggle on the feature.
After that, Messenger will sync all your SMS messages. You will be able to distinguish your messenger messages from your text messages using color, for example, the Facebook messages will be in blue while text messages will be in purple.
One cool thing about this integration is that you can use Facebook Messenger’s unique features such as stickers, voice memos, and your locations with your text messages thereby making the boring old text messages very cool!
