That Moment Nigeria Is In The News For The Wrong Reasons – Meet Dr. Bakare Tunde

Meet Dr. Bakare Tunde (not his real name), the idiot who has made Nigeria popular for the wrong reasons.
Dr. Bakare Tunde needs to save his cousin – Abacha Bakare who is an Astronaut. Apparently Abacha has been stuck in space since 1990 for “14 years” and they are looking for a way to bring him home, a fee which will apparently cost $3,000,000.
Right now, Dr. Bakare Tunde has become popular because his email which you will see shortly has been featured on several international tech platforms with the Nigerian factor tied to their titles thereby resurrecting the almost buried stereotype against Nigerians. See the mail below:

How bad is this stereotype? It is bad enough that corporations including Sony once used it in an ad to sell their games. The line used in the ad was:

You can’t believe everything you read on the internet. Otherwise, I’d be a Nigerian millionaire by now.

Even the popular US sitcom, The Big Bang Theory once captured the Nigerian scam stereotype in season 4 episode 19 (Get it?! 419) of their show by mentioning a certain “Nigerian Prince” who is a scammer.
Honestly, if you read the comments under the articles talking about Dr. Bakare Tunde, you will understand where I am coming from.
So to the Dr. Bakare Tunde’s of this world, abeg can you stop shaming Nigeria?!

Tells me most of these scammers are desperate dumbasses. Maybe the letter was written before search engines appeared on the net. Bakare Tunde ko, Okotie Chris ni.
