Finally! You No Longer Have To Pay An Annual Subscription Fee On Whatsapp

This is long coming, remember that annoying $1 subscription fee banner on Whatsapp? Well, it will be in the past as Facebook has decided to do away with it – Whatsapp goes completely free starting today! (I am sure most of you didn’t pay that $1 fee)

Wondering what brought about the change? Well, Whatsapp claims many of its users especially in developing markets, don’t have credit cards and therefore aren’t able to pay the $1 fee. (Hey, we know these guys decided to join the free offerers party!)
However, with this fee removal comes the need to make money and since they can’t make money via ads, they want to add a functionality that allows you to communicate with businesses for a fee. ( More details on this later)
By the way, just for the record, Has anyone ever paid the $1 fee in Africa?
