The future is closer than we think. To understand how close, Meet these Japanese filmmakers who recently used a robot that has been available since 2011 as the lead role in a movie called Sayonara. The robot is named Geminoid F and guess what? She isn’t acting as a robot, instead, she was designed to look and act like a human.
The movie takes place in the aftermath of a deadly nuclear power plant meltdown in Japan. Geminoid F plays the lead role with womanly features. The only problem is that she cannot walk, so she is wheeled around in the movie.
However, she can smile, move her brows and her mouth, as well as talk and sing thanks to the motorized actuators that are powered by air pressure, which gives her the ability to copy human facial expressions.
Geminoid F doesn’t need fame and flattery, plus you don’t need to pay her. All you need is to plug her in at night so she doesn’t die on the set the next day, and she’d be ready with no extra drama.
