Tech Gist

Not Again!! Microsoft Lays Off 1000 Employees Quietly.

Just when we are still trying to deal with the 130 employees that iRotv laid off, we are hit with another one. I guess it is safe to assume that job security in the Tech industry is becoming volatile. Microsoft has added a total of 1000 employees to the existing list of people that will be laid off. The New York Times places the number at “about 1,000.”
According to the company’s spokesperson

“The job reductions were spread across more than one business area and country and reflect adaptations to business needs. We go through this process in the most thoughtful manner possible, with the deepest respect for affected individuals,” says a company spokesperson.

In a statement to the Times, Microsoft confirmed the layoffs and said that they were across business units, but declined to provide a number.
Even though this is an important business process, one cannot help feeling for those who lost their jobs. I hope they’ve been able to gather enough experience from Microsoft that can guide them into creating their own business
