Ironic Job Offer: Google Wants To Hire An SEO Expert To Improve Its Ranking On Google

This is one of the most ironic Google job opening ever!
A job posting on Google Career shows that Google wants to hire an SEO expert. In case you didn’t get that, let me drive it home, Google needs someone that would make its Google sites be Googled better.

Don’t you find it hilarious that the search giants Google which  has more control over SEO than any other entity around needs someone to help with SEO?  The Job posting specified that Google needs a “Program Manager, Search Engine Optimization.” that can meet some of the job descriptions below:

As a Program Manager for Technical SEO, you will work with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Engineering and more to help drive organic traffic and business growth. You will take part in website development and optimization, help shape blog and social strategy, improve website code hygiene and define web architecture for international websites

Here is why I think Google might want to hire an SEO expert, for one, maybe Google needs to optimize its web pages to show good results on other search engines like Bing, Another possibility is that maybe Google is facing pressure to show that it is not tampering with search results, so they are trying to ensure they draw traffic to their own pages organically.

Whichever way, I think Google better finds someone who doesn’t use blackhat techniques, or they might get penalized lol. In case you are looking to apply, just use some of these tips… this is my own little token to help Google achieve its objectives:

1. Add minimum 300 words to demonstrate subject authority.
2. Investigate those millions of unnatural incoming links (porn, gambling sites etc.), contact all webmasters and request link removal and then follow up (keep all communication records). If that doesn’t work, submit a disavow request.
3. Outbound links on the home page (g+, calendar, drive etc.) are irrelevant to search business.
4. Add Nofollow to external links.
5. Ensure there are no ads above the fold.
6. Lastly, No more than 3 ad sense units on SERPs
Who else finds this job posting hilarious? I can’t help but smile at the irony, it feels like I’ve been teleported back to April 1.

Its indeed ironic, but it not a suprise to me.
Cos some people are already beating google at their own game. 😆
Just last month an Egyptian repairman outranked google (Egypt) for the search term “google” on Google! – Hope you understand that
    Here’s a link to the “saga” – I promise you’ll enjoy it 😉

LOL!!! Where is the link? They probably did not think about any “foot soldier” thrashing them in their own field. 🙂 But I really don’t think anyone will ding Google for manipulating codes in their favour where their company is involved.

  2. Benjibabs says:

I agree with you on trying to improve their ranking on other search engines, but on Google itself it should only take a line of code to create an exception to always place their site at the top of search results. The question I’m asking myself here is – why would they not just use their existing resources to complete these tasks ?

    What are they saying? [confused]
