7,800 People Became Jobless Thanks To Microsoft + A Video Demo Of The Facial Recognition Feature In Windows 10 & Other Microsoft Rumors

If you are a fan of Microsoft, a lot happened this week so get in here!

7,800 People Lose Their Jobs At Microsoft

On Wednesday, 7,800 People became jobless thanks to Microsoft, this is in addition to the 18,000 people that were laid off last year. These layoffs were mostly associated with  people working in the Microsoft’s smartphone division. In addition to this, Microsoft will take a  $7.6 billion impairment charge as it attempts to revive its flagging phone hardware business. The company acquired Nokia’s phone business in April 2014 in a bid to gain a wider share of the market, however since this didn’t happen, they needed to cut losses.
In an email to company employees, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella said:

“We anticipate that these changes, in addition to other headcount alignment changes, will result in the reduction of up to 7,800 positions globally, primarily in our phone business. We expect that the reductions will take place over the next several months.”
“I don’t take changes in plans like these lightly, given that they affect the lives of people who have made an impact at Microsoft. We are deeply committed to helping our team members through these transitions.”

One thing is for sure Microsoft, Apple, Google, and other tech giants will continue to make money one way or the other, they don’t care if people argue which product is better as long as people keep buying them and lining their pockets. But when workers (no matter what company) are being laid off (especially during these economic times) no one wins.

There is one cool feature in the Windows 10 called the Windows Hello, this feature allows users to securely log into their PC with a fingerprint recognition, iris, or  facial recognition. According to a post on Microsoft blog,

With Windows Hello, you’ll be able to just show your face, or touch your finger, to new devices running Windows 10 and be immediately recognized.  And not only is Windows Hello more convenient than typing a password – it’s more secure!  Our system enables you to authenticate applications, enterprise content, and even certain online experiences without a password being stored on your device or in a network server at all,”

Now thanks to WinSupersite, you can now get to see Windows hello live in action, they were able to pull this off with  the Windows 10 SDK build 10158, See the video below and tell me what you think!

Super cool yeah?

Rumor has it that 6 Lumias Are On Their Way.

As a result of the events that have unfolded in Microsoft, various speculations have hinted at Microsoft quitting the Smartphone business which would be really tragic, some reports even hinted that Microsoft would only make devices for 2 years before quitting, however despite these speculations, Microsoft has been rumoured to launch six new handsets later this year. The rumors even  suggest that the Redmond-based company has already started working on these devices. A tip off from@evleaks further cemented this rumor.

Microsoft wants to redeem their lost glory and are releasing devices that are expected to cater to enterprises and people preferring to own high-end flagship handsets rather than traditional mid-range smartphones,  Nadella hinted earlier this year, He also stated that “Microsoft will release smartphones to cater to flagship device buyers”.

Lastly, @evleaks has revealed that one of the devices could feature a front-facing LED flash which could be a first for Microsoft.
Even though no specs were released, the rumors have solidified my hope in the Windows phone, It gets to show that Microsoft are still ready and willing to fight to stay relevant in its mobile business!

And that is all I can take! I can’t wait to read your opinion on the latest developments.

when the guy was asked whether the 1st iphone had any chance of becoming a hit in the consumer electronics(CE) market place, he said flat out & i quote; “NO CHANCE”!! Now look where apple is & look where microsoft is. They(microsoft) are literally swimming in horsesh*t! and trying to ground in the CE space. Their products are either “meh” or “dogsh*t”. Although i hear the new surface tablets r quite good
