YotaPhone 2 – World First Dual-Screen Smartphone Available For Pre-Order

The world first dual-screen smartphone – YotaPhone 2 – unveiled initially at MWC 2014 is now available for pre-order. For those who are not so familiar with this phone, YotaPhone is a dual-screen smartphone that combines the features of a premium Android smartphone with the benefits of an Electronic Paper Display (an AMOLED screen on the front and an E Ink Display on the back). The first Yotaphone back screen’s lack of touch support made it frustrating to use and dragged the handset down a great deal, but  the Yotaphone 2 is everything the first handset should have been and more.

The Yotaphone 2 is similar to Nexus 4 in terms of design. It has rounded edges and is very smooth on the back side, the buttons  are placed on practical places and both displays support full Capacitive touch.

One interesting USP (unique selling point) is that the secondary back display does not drain your battery at all and stays on even when the device is turned off. According to them, Yotaphone can last up to Five days’ reading on a single charge, 2 days of basic smartphone functions and with the YotaEnergy app you can give yourself a few more hours to get you to your next charge.

The secondary screen on the device promises better clarity and can be used to  easily receive notifications, weather data, stock data and any other app. You can also use the secondary screen for calls, emails, texts and social media –  you can simply put the phone face-down on a table and still be able to see all notifications plus the Yotaphone 2 will automatically lock the rear screen as soon as you turn it over. Its accelerometers are very quick to detect which way the phone is facing

The YotaPhone comes with a wireless charger that allows for quick charging.

YotaPhone 2 also has specs that can rival  with some Flagship Android Smartphones (not going to mention names) – They include

The Yotaphone 2 is surely an innovative and fresh concept  – instead of having a useless plastic back cover, why not replace a smartphone’s rear side with an e-ink display? Brillant!

So, what do you think of the YotaPhone 2?

My take on the YotaPhone 2
