Beware of the "Power Off Hijack": One of the Greatest Malware to ever hit Android Phones

Beware of the “Power Off Hijack”

Even though we’ve been told several times to always install antivirus on our Android Devices, most of us don’t really see the need because we’ve not had any bad experience with virus infesting our phones or probably because this virus phenomenon is not so popular.

If you have this opinion, you need to have it rechecked ASAP because some days back,  AVG  reported a very dangerous malware that is attacking android devices, this malware has the power to hijack the shutdown process of your phone, making your android phone seem like you switched it off, when the actual fact is, your android device didn’t really go off.

So, even though you might see the real shutdown animation and it appears to power down, the Malware makes sure that your android device is still operating and when it is in this mode, it carries out its dangerous activities which include making outgoing calls, taking pictures, and performing many other tasks without notifying you.

How possible is it to get the “PowerOffHijack” ??

Simple, if you install shady apps from third-party app stores, you stand a chance of contacting this malware. So please pay attention to the apps you install, also AVG reported that the malware is targeting Android versions below 5.0 and requires root permissions in order to hook.

A total number of 100,000 android devices have been infected within this short time, with most of these coming from China. No decisive statement has been given on how to deal with this malware when installed, but anytime words get out, you would surely read it first on MissTechy 🙂

In the main time, PLAY IT SAFE with your Phone, MALWARE IS REAL.
