C.H.I.P is a computer that is slimmer than a credit card and it is being sold for $9!  – Yes my friends, this would be the World’s Cheapest Computer beating the Raspberry PI  that is sold for $35e8bb5eef57c1c9141b6921251cf97a1d_original

The Chip is a tiny computer that’s quite easy to use, It is capable of browsing the web, checking your mail, editing documents, and playing games (even with a Bluetooth controller)

The Chip comes with a 1Ghz, 512 ram and a 4GB storage – well for a  N1800 computer this isn’t so bad

Since the Chip is very tiny, You’ll need to provide your own display, keyboard, and mouse to attach to the Chip. The Chip is designed to work with any screen and has a built-in WiFi + Bluetooth. You can also connect to the internet and attach a keyboard and mouse wirelessly.

On the software side, the Chip comes pre-installed with a Linux operating system, it also has preinstalled with dozens of useful applications such asLibreOffice for editing documents and spreadsheets, Google Chromium for browsing the web, VLC Media Player for playing video and sound files, and other programs for torrenting, coding, and photo editing, among others.  Apart from these preinstalled apps, Chip can also run THOUSANDS of free applications from the open source community.

However, with the low RAM, the Chip can’t handle games with heavy graphics but since the Chip supports Bluetooth, you can connect a video game controller to the computer.

The Chip is scheduled to ship out in December for those that pre-ordered it on Kickstarter. You can pre-order the basic Chip starting at $9 by visiting their  Kickstarter page.
