When Technology Meets Energy: Drones To Help Nigeria Fight Oil Theft

Not everytime Nigerian Navy, sometimes apply Tech.

According to NNPC, Nigeria will start using the drone technology to fight against oil theft, these drones will be used to monitor the movement of ships in key coastal areas.

The news was confirmed by the new NNPC boss, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu at the conference on security in the Gulf of Guinea ( By the way, this man just won my heart for this).

According to him:

We are launching an armada of approaches which will include incorporation of drones to check movements of vessels within our territorial waters,” said Kachikwu in a statement. “We are looking at the current logistical nightmares of changing staffing at the loading bay of crude oil export terminals virtually every 90 days.”

Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with the news, I think it is high time Nigeria embraces technology in combatting problems. What do you think?
