Virtual Reality Takeover: Watching YouTube Videos With Cardboard Is Actually Boring

For those who didn’t get this, YouTube has added support for Cardboard – Google’s Virtual reality headset. However, if you are tempted to buy Google’s Cardboard to have a first-hand experience, you might need to wait for Google to provide more features.

According to a VentureBeat’s writer, he was very disappointed after using the Cardboard to watch some YouTube videos.  In his own words, “It’s basically like sitting on a couch and turning on a TV in a dark living room.” There is also a problem with notification interference. See some Screenshots below:

The Cardboard allows you to pause, rewind, fast-forward, and adjust the volume of the video by turning your head and pushing the button on the top of the headset.

Even if Google’s cardboard is cheap (within the price range of $5 – $50), they might not get enough traction if they don’t step up their game, especially with the introduction of Facebook’s Oculus Rift scheduled for release next near and is expected to cost between $300 to $350.
