Over the weekend, it was reported that the man who invented the Email, Ray Tomlinson passed away at 74 due to a suspected heart attack.
I am sure a lot of people don’t know him, but Ray Tomlinson was regarded as one of the early ARPAnet pioneers in the 1960s at engineering firm Bolt Beranek and Newman. He was also known to have invented the @ symbol as a way to separate local e-mails from those that could be sent to a different computer on a network.
Tomlinson sent the very first email back in 1971 and ever since then, the email culture has been integrated into our lives.
In 2012, Ray Tomlinson was initiated into the Internet Hall of Fame in 2012 for his contribution to changing the way we communicate,
RIP Ray, hope you also get to invent something up there.
