With over 10 million downloads on the iOS store within just weeks of launching, Prisma, an art filter app launched by a Russian programmer has suddenly become the Photo app of the moment, at least for now. So, what is so special about it?
Unlike other apps with similar offerings, Prisma uses cloud-based machine learning to turn your boring photos into a stunning piece of artwork. So, instead of a dumb filter that just creates an overlay, Prisma actually uses Artificial Intelligence to reconstruct the image from scratch.
However, since this is an online app that requires internet connectivity, I noticed that it took about 4 seconds or more to apply each filter which is not bad considering the final results, there is also the issue with over capacity.
In case you haven’t tried it out, stop being so 2015, will you?
P.S.: Something tells me this app is an acquisition waiting to happen.
