Innovative or Gimmicky: LG Has A Smartphone That Could Save You From Mosquito Bites.

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all:

This happens!!

Yes, there is a new Smartphone that can replace your Insecticide.

Meet the LG K7i a phone that also doubles as a mosquito repellant.

Before you jump into conclusions, it’s not April Fools —The LG K7i does exist.

It’s a budget device (For the Indian market) with a big lump at the base that emits an ultrasonic tone which is to mosquitoes what Mr. Eazi is currently to a couple of Nigerians.

The lump can also be replaced with a normal back cover.

As for the technology used to repel the mosquitoes, LG calls it “mosquito away.” However, based on this article by the BBC, mosquito repellent devices “have no effect on preventing mosquito bites” and “should not be recommended or used.”

So, is this a gimmick?

I don’t know cos I haven’t used it.

But I do know the specifications:

  •  5-inch display with 854×480 pixel resolution.
  • 1.1 GHz quad-core processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB of expandable storage
  • Dual-SIM functionality
  • 8 MP main camera with LED flash
  • 5 MP selfie camera
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • 2,500 mAh battery.
  • Android Marshmallow

Yeah, the specs suck (at least the mosquitoes might not “suck”), however, at a price tag of $121 (N42,500), do you think this is a fair bargain?

Did I mention that this comes in one color – brown?
