INFINIX ZERO 3 REVIEW
HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO WAIT TO POWER ON THE ZERO 3
Even though this has nothing to do with the performance, it is always good to know that your device can power on fast especially for moments that you need it to. The Infinix Zero 3 takes about 44 seconds to power on
And 5 seconds to power off.
HOW DOES THE ZERO 3 FEEL IN THE HAND?
If you’ve read the unboxing, you should know that the Infinix Zero 3 has a glass (glossy) back + metallic finishing which might be slippery.
However, the curved metallic edges help give a little grip on the phone (Some might find this uncomfortable). Surprisingly, the device doesn’t weigh soo much
IS THE 5.5 INCH DISPLAY BADASS?
The Infinix Zero 3 has a Full HD display with a definition of 1920 x 1280 pixels at a 440 PPI pixel density. However, when you compare the display quality of the Phantom 5, the latter trumps the Zero 3.
On half brightness, I sometimes struggled to see the image clearly under direct sunlight, but most of the time I kept it on full brightness, and it wasn’t an issue.
Pixel-quality wise, the device is really impressive although those with picky eyes will note that the Zero 3’s colors are marginally oversaturated.
BEAUTY OUTSIDE, BEAUTY INSIDE?
It’s running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with the Infinix’s XUI.
There is no much difference with the Note 2 in terms of UI.
DID YOU GET ANY UPDATE(S) POSSIBLY TO MARSHMALLOW??
Lol, Definitely not to Marshmallow, but I got several XUI updates. One significant update brought in the Infinix Music, in my opinion, Infinix just borrowed Tecno’s Boom Player. *sips tea*
DID INFINIX THINK SMART OR DO I NEED TO ROOT TO UNINSTALL APPS?
Yes! They did think smart.
The Infinix Zero 3 comes with its regular apps that were found in the Note 2 – these are everyday apps that you will definitely need.
Thankfully, there were hardly any bloatware (Asides XClub and XContact), another welcome feature.
CAN I TURN UP WITH THE ZERO 3?
You can definitely turn up if you are the only one in the room, but if you are in a crowded or semi-crowded environment, your turn up might be converted to a turndown.
This is because the main speaker is a mono unit that sits on the back of the Zero 3, overall performance = Okay
IS THE STORAGE ENOUGH TO HAVE ALL MY NEEDS MET?
I am afraid not! I don’t think any internal storage can be enough to meet your needs, well, aside the 256GB on the iPhone 7.
However, you have an expandable memory of 128GB. I must warn you, even though it says 16GB, you only have 9GB + to use which is definitely not enough. After installing several games and taking few pictures/videos, I had 1.9GB left.?
HOW GOOD IS THE 3030mAh ON THE ZERO 3?
I put the battery to test in my video review with WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS & others turned on, I also ran several games and apps. And contrary to the opinions, I think the Zero 3 did well.
Meanwhile, this phone tends to use less power when left unused which is a great thing.
DOES THE CAMERA MEET MY HIGH EXPECTATION
This is a touchy part for most people given that the Zero 3 comes with a 20.7MP rear camera, I went crazed for that in my other posts. But did it meet the expectation? I did a live camera test, using low-light and daylight conditions. Also, to serve as a benchmark, I paired it with the InnJoo 2 since the camera on that is not bad as well.

INDOOR TEST: FRONT CAMERA (I also did a live camera test for this in the video, do check it out)

DSLR SETTING EFFECT
What I did love about the back facing camera on the Infinix Zero 3 is the fact that it has various DSLR settings, for example, you can change the ISO, set exposure etc. This can have a huge impact on your pictures.
Also, there is a slow motion video recording which is super duper cool and let’s not forget the 4k recording. Even though the 4k video was sharper, there wasn’t so much quality gap with the 720p.
Other settings include filters, debrasion mode, beautified mode and the ability to gesture capture, PIP, selfie timer, etcetera.
IS THE ZERO 3 A MACHINE OR ….
Definitely A MACHINE! The Zero 3 is powerful! Even than the Phantom 5, Yes I said it! Thanks to its optimized 3GB RAM, Octa-core processor, and the Mediatek Helio X10, you have the ability to run your apps without any lag, but don’t just read about it, why not see it in action:
IN DBANJ’S VOICE, IS IT HOT OR NOT?
Hehehe, not the hot you have in mind. Fans claim the Zero series always heat up under heavy use. So, I put that to test with the 3.
In the video, after playing games with WIFI, and other functionality switched on, I noticed that the Zero 3 grew warm, but not overly hot to elicit a scream, however, if you are using it for hours, with 3G along with the battery charging, you should expect it to get above the warm benchmark.
WHICH SENSOR WILL I HAVE TO LET GO ON THE ZERO 3
So I carried out a sensor test and in the video, do watch the video for the sensor test
HOW FAST IS THE FAST CHARGE?
When Switched off, I was able to charge the Zero 3 from 19% to 36% in 19 minutes.
When switched on (screen on all through), I was able to charge it from 30% to 36% in 7 minutes.
ARE THERE ANY PAPARAZZI?
Well not so many, you have your:
Here you can set the power mode whether high performance, normal power saving or ultra power saving mode. I like the high-performance mode initiative.
LED REMINDER LIGHTS
You can also set the reminder lights, but no option to change the color
Not so many in this department, the Infinix Zero 3 only has two gestures, tap to wake and quick start.
MAGAZINE LOCK SCREEN
Like in the Note 2, the Zero 3 has a lock screen changer, that changes the lock screen wallpaper anytime you put your device on.
You also have the ability to protect your data (pictures, audios, videos and others) from unlawful access.
MOBILE ANTI- THEFT
It comes with a mobile anti-theft feature.
HOW DID THE ZERO 3 FARE IN BENCHMARKS?
BENCHMARK COMPARISON WITH THE PHANTOM 5
SOME PROBLEMS I NOTICED
- PROBLEM: When scrolling the gallery, the thumbnails don’t show instantly.
SOLUTION: A software update should fix.
- PROBLEM: Not really a problem, but I noticed that Note 2’s charger charges the Zero 3 faster than its charger.
Steal MissTechy’s Note 2’s chargeror look for a similar charger with the voltage of the Note 2.
4 THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THE ZERO 3
- Performance is more than great thanks to the processor and OPTIMIZED software
- The 20.7MP back camera is BAE for outdoor photography
- Definitely affordable especially when you compare it with other phones in the same specs department
- Better than average battery life.
4 THINGS I DON’T LIKE ABOUT THE ZERO 3
- Sound is just there
- The warm side of the Zero 3
- Front camera performs averagely for low light selfie
I can’t think of one right now, check back later.Just remembered one, the static design.
I totally dig the Zero 3, do you?
