Remember when Tecno Mobile attempted to break the record for the World’s longest song? Huawei in a bid to set the record for the highest smartphone live stream ever attached the Honor 8 to a weather balloon and sent it 30 kilometers up towards space. The balloon was expected to burst at an altitude of 30,000 meters (98,425 ft) with the device making its way back down by parachute.
As well as the Honor 8, the balloon also carried a GoPro camera.
By the way, Honor 8 sports a 5.2-inch display with a 1080X1920 pixel resolution. It is powered by 1.8GHz octa-core Kirin 950 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It also comes with a 32GB of storage, a 12MP rear camera along with an 8MP front-facing camera and a 3000mAh battery.
Did the balloon burst at an altitude of 30,000 meters?
Peter Lundkvist of Huawei Technologies Sweden via Reuters said the balloon reached 18,421 meters before bursting. “Hopefully, Guinness (World Records) will accept this as a world record in highest smartphone live streaming,” he said.
I am not sure if the device met any mishap.
What do you think? Crazy or dope?!
