Is 2017 the year of AI-based apps?
I don’t have the answer to that question, but judging from the experience I’ve had with Prisma — a Neural network-based photo manipulation app— I pray it is. The latest app to join the small number of beauty apps that use AI technology is FaceApp, an app that replaces your duck-face selfie with a toothy grin, you can also make people old, young, male, female, and “hot.” Before now, it was only available on iOS, but as of today, Android users can download the app here.
Now, in a bid to show you what the app has to offer, I decided to transform a few Nigerian celebrities including the President using FaceApp.

I don’t know which smiley look I prefer on Omotola, this:
Who else thinks Tonto Dikeh should smile more often:
Same goes for Yemi Alade:
Meanwhile, FaceApp showed us what President Buhari, Basket Mouth, and Wizkid might look like if they used Bobriskky’s cream:
RMD can do no wrong:
Finally, we have the grandma look:
Which I nailed:
Yes, that is me up there. 😎
There you have it! Neural network-based photo manipulation may not be there yet (The App had a couple of misses), but it’s not hard to see where the future lies.
